New WoW Dev 5 Build Appears: What 69698 Does Not Prove

Another encrypted Patch 1.60 build has appeared on Blizzard’s WoW Dev 5 environment. BlizzTrack recorded the branch moving from 1.60.0.69679 to 1.60.0.69698 on September 3, with the new build showing up across the US, EU, Korea and Taiwan regions.

Like the previous versions, build 69698 remains encrypted and has no public keyring. There is nothing new to datamine yet, but this is now the third WoW Dev 5 update in two days.

Three WoW Dev 5 Builds in Two Days

The latest deployment continues a quick run of updates on the branch commonly linked to Project Camelot:

• September 2: 69606 → 69639
• September 2: 69639 → 69679
• September 3: 69679 → 69698

Build 69698 also has a new build ID and build configuration, while the CDN configuration is unchanged. The first two updates arrived only a few hours apart on September 2.

What Could This Mean for Project Camelot?

For now, the new build tells us one thing: Blizzard is still working on the encrypted Patch 1.60 branch. It does not reveal what is inside the build, who might be testing it or when players could get access.

The timing is still interesting. These updates follow the recent appearance of a .wow-camelot__color-scheme in Blizzard Gear Store code, which was later renamed and removed. There is no technical evidence showing that the store code and WoW Dev 5 activity are part of the same rollout, but both have kept Project Camelot firmly in the spotlight ahead of BlizzCon.

Blizzard has not announced Project Camelot or confirmed that Patch 1.60 is Classic+. There is also no public beta, feature list or release date.

With BlizzCon 2026 just over a week away, the obvious question is whether Blizzard is preparing Camelot for a reveal—or whether we are simply watching another round of internal testing. For now, the build is real. The answer is still encrypted.
