Hunter level 60 guide

Level 60 · Theorycraft

At 60, Beast Mastery plans around a living pet, Marksmanship compares pet and Lone Wolf setups, and Survival needs a clear melee-versus-ranged decision before following a guide. This guide links the Hunter talent trees, sourced builds and beta gear lists. Level-60 advice remains theorycraft; each section keeps its source and recorded level.

Hunter level 60 specs at a glance

Theorycraft · Level 60Sources checked

The level-60 pet comparison, ranged cycle and complete Survival melee raid priority remain theorycraft; current shot cooldown rules override the September source.

Beast Mastery

Ranged DPS with pet · Level 60 theorycraft

Full Beast Mastery guide

Compare Bestial Wrath, pet damage talents and Summon Hawk while keeping pet survival part of the damage plan.

Spells and talents mentioned

Ability priority

  1. Send the pet after the tank establishes control and recall it before lethal ground effects.

  2. Maintain ranged uptime while deciding between Summon Hawk and other shots from the current cooldown tooltips.

  3. Align Bestial Wrath with a window in which the pet can remain on target.

  4. Mend Pet and manage threat with Feign Death before losing the pet or the pull.

Stats to compare

  • Hit
  • Agility
  • Attack power
  • Crit
  • Consider hit, Agility, attack power and crit as provisional damage comparisons.
  • Keep enough mana for pet care as well as shots; no pet-scaling weights are verified.

Endgame preparation

  • Check pet abilities, pet food and ammunition before the group forms.
  • Bind passive, attack and follow commands for reliable pet control.
Evidence limits and 2 sources
  • The September guide’s cooldown cycle is not a tested 60 rotation. Current Aimed Shot and Multi-Shot sharing prevents treating both as independent attacks.

Marksmanship

Ranged DPS · Level 60 theorycraft

Full Marksmanship guide

Evaluate Trueshot Aura, ranged crit talents and the Lone Wolf choice against a pet setup before settling the damage build.

Ability priority

  1. Set Hunter’s Mark and the assigned aura before beginning sustained shots.

  2. Choose Aimed Shot for one target or Multi-Shot for a suitable pack; they share a cooldown.

  3. Fit Arcane Shot and movement around the main shot cycle without losing ranged uptime.

  4. Maintain Serpent Sting when its duration and selected mana talents justify it; Feign Death before threat becomes unsafe.

Stats to compare

  • Weapon damage
  • Hit
  • Agility
  • Crit
  • Intellect
  • Mana regen
  • Compare ranged weapon damage, hit, Agility and crit.
  • Treat Intellect and regeneration as sustain considerations for a long encounter.

Endgame preparation

  • Compare pet and Lone Wolf equipment plans rather than dismissing the pet by default.
  • Reserve a binding for assigned Tranquilizing Shot and trap control.
Evidence limits and 2 sources
  • The source’s independent Aimed Shot and Multi-Shot timing conflicts with Blizzard. Lone Wolf versus pet damage at 60 has not been demonstrated.

Survival

Melee or ranged DPS planning · Level 60 theorycraft

Full Survival guide

Use the sourced melee tools to plan a Survival melee setup; keep the supplementary ranged build as a separate, untested alternative.

Ability priority

  1. For melee, use Mongoose Bite and selected Strider Kick or Counterattack when available.

  2. Keep Raptor Strike and target bleeds or stings appropriate to the selected build.

  3. Use traps for assigned control and leave melee when survival demands it.

  4. For a ranged alternative, preserve Auto Shot uptime and choose Aimed Shot or Multi-Shot for the target count.

Stats to compare

  • Weapon damage
  • Agility
  • Hit
  • Compare melee weapon damage and Agility for a melee plan.
  • A ranged plan needs its own ranged weapon and hit comparison; the two plans have no verified shared weights.

Endgame preparation

  • Declare the intended melee or ranged role to the group.
  • Check current talent placement before combining control talents with damage milestones.
Evidence limits and 2 sources
  • The 60 guide is ranged while Blizzard describes Survival melee tools. Its ranged priority does not validate a complete melee raid rotation or relative damage ranking.
Class sources and review date

Checked 2026-10-17. These sources support planning advice with the limits stated above. Level-20 and level-30 beta testing does not verify level-60 performance.

Hunter: your next trainer stops

Plan levels 21–30 with the fansite report for build 1.60.1.70124, checked 2026-10-01. Later official corrections are noted separately. Check current-client availability before planning a quest or dungeon around a spell.

  1. Blizzard confirms combat traps and separate Fire/Frost trap cooldowns. Recheck your bindings when training Frost Trap.
  2. Blizzard confirms that Aimed Shot and Multi-Shot share a cooldown. Arcane Shot has a separate cooldown.
  3. Use the reported level-30 Feign Death unlock as a trainer checklist.

Open the Hunter unlock timeline and talent milestones →

Class-specific limits
  • Blizzard's newer article places Counterattack at the 16-point milestone and Strider Kick at 21 points. The report's ability timeline still lists Counterattack at 30, while its tree puts the talent in row 4. Check when the trainer offers its first rank.

A point-by-point leveling order is not established by this preparation cut. The talent table compares unlocks and prerequisites.

The separate level-30 combat instructions are still under review. These trainer stops do not establish a tested rotation.

Changes to Hunter in WoW Forever

Notes on the BlizzCon preview trees · . The planner above shows the current beta trees.

The pet question sits on the tree itself: Beast Mastery improves pets and hawks, Marksmanship has a no-active-pet condition, and Survival turns Hunter’s Mark into a route toward Mongoose Bite and a bleed. Blizzard confirms Hunter for both Skyborne factions and names Human Hunter as a new race-and-class combination. The tree details come from the observed Wowhead calculator.

The three Hunter trees

Branch Final-row talent Recorded prerequisite
Beast Mastery Bestial Wrath Intimidation
Marksmanship Sniper Shot Trueshot Aura
Survival Lacerating Strikes Expose Prey

The calculator showed 51 points. Blizzard’s Deep Dive recap confirms one-point milestones at 11, 16, 21 and 31 and the familiar row structure.

Marksmanship: ranged choice and Sting effects

Survival: traps, parry and Mongoose Bite

Sources and limits

The What’s Next recap confirms Hunter for both Skyborne factions; the Deep Dive adds Human Hunter but publishes no Hunter talent list. Tree names, descriptions and prerequisites come from the Hunter calculator and its observed talent response. Wowhead reconstructed the calculator from BlizzCon testing and streams before beta data was available and says damage numbers may vary, so the pet, hawk and Sting links still need beta confirmation.
