Priest level 60 guide
Level 60 · Theorycraft
At 60, Discipline plans damage prevention, Holy covers varied healing patterns, and Shadow maintains damage over time with direct spells. Assign party coverage and mana tools before the encounter. This guide links the Priest talent trees, sourced builds and beta gear lists. Level-60 advice remains theorycraft; each section keeps its source and recorded level.
Priest level 60 specs at a glance
Theorycraft · Level 60Sources checked , talent names
No checked source demonstrates the level-60 healing or damage priorities in encounters; racial mana abilities and personal debuffs must not become class-wide or raid-wide claims.
Discipline
Healer · Level 60 theorycraft
Plan
Soul Warding,
Penance,
Renewed Hope and
Divine Aegis for shields followed by direct healing.
Spells and talents mentioned
Ability priority
Shield players facing predictable damage rather than spending mana on unneeded absorbs.

Follow damage with
Penance or an appropriate direct heal and watch
Weakened Soul.
Use
Renew for sustained damage and
Prayer of Healing for the affected target’s party.
Reserve
Inner Focus for a useful expensive heal and coordinate
Power Infusion.
Stats to compare
- Healing
- Intellect
- Mana regen
- Crit
- Compare healing bonuses and Intellect for shield and direct-heal output.
- Balance regeneration with crit-dependent absorbs; no level-60 weights are established.
Endgame preparation
- Set raid frames to show absorbs and
Weakened Soul. - Assign
Power Infusion and Fear Ward before combat.
Evidence limits and 2 sources
- The guide incorrectly treats Dark Sacrifice as a general mana tool; Blizzard assigns it to Undead Priests. Penance is a channel, so plan safe casting time.
Holy
Healer · Level 60 theorycraft
Evaluate
Prayer of Mending, Holy Binding and
Litany of Light alongside the direct-heal toolkit and Spirit scaling.
Spells and talents mentioned
Ability priority

Place
Prayer of Mending where incoming damage can trigger it; maintain
Renew when useful.
Choose
Heal or Greater
Heal for predictable damage and
Flash Heal for urgent danger.
Use
Binding Heal when both you and the target need healing.
Use
Prayer of Healing for the selected party and vary heals for
Litany of Light when appropriate.
Stats to compare
- Healing
- Spirit
- Mana regen
- Intellect
- Crit
- Compare healing bonuses and Spirit with
Spiritual Guidance and regeneration in mind. - Consider Intellect, mana regeneration and crit against the encounter’s length and damage.
Endgame preparation
- Check party assignments and
Prayer of Healing targeting in raid frames. - Bind
Binding Heal and
Inner Focus for predictable spike patterns.
Evidence limits and 2 sources
- The priority is a healing decision plan, not a fixed spell sequence. Rank efficiency and throughput at 60 remain untested.
Shadow
Ranged DPS · Level 60 theorycraft
Plan
Shadowform,
Shadow Focus and
Devouring Contagion around sustained Shadow damage and mana management.
Spells and talents mentioned
Ability priority

Maintain
Shadow Word: Pain on durable targets and use
Devouring Plague where it can run or spread.
Use
Mind Blast and fill available casting time with
Mind Flay.
Use
Vampiric Embrace when its party healing is needed.Consider Shadow Word: Death in execute windows only when its self-damage is safe.
Stats to compare
- Hit
- Spell damage
- Crit
- Intellect
- Compare Shadow spell hit and damage before assuming a Classic hit target.
- Assess crit and Intellect for damage and sustain; watch health for self-damaging spells.
Endgame preparation
- Track personal damage effects and Shadow Word: Death recoil in the UI.
- Agree when you may leave damage duties for support.
Evidence limits and 2 sources
- Blizzard says Shadow Weaving benefits its caster only, so the older raid-debuff rationale is excluded. Level-60 channel timing still needs testing.

Prayer of Healing affects the target's party and pets. Check your party targeting before a dungeon run.

Changes to Priest in WoW Forever
Notes on the BlizzCon preview trees · . The planner above shows the current beta trees.
Discipline ties
Holy Fire to
Smite,
Penance and shields; Holy turns critical healing and
Holy Fire damage into follow-up value; Shadow mixes party healing, a spreading disease and a low-health critical effect. Blizzard’s Deep Dive recap names Gnome Priest as a new race-and-class combination. The tree details come from the observed Wowhead calculator.
The three Priest trees
| Branch | Final-row talent | Recorded prerequisite |
|---|---|---|
| Discipline | ||
| Holy | ||
| Shadow |
The calculator showed 51 points. Blizzard confirms one-point milestones at 11, 16, 21 and 31 and the existing row count.
Discipline: Holy Fire, shields and Penance
Power in Light: more
Smite and
Penance damage against targets with
Holy Fire.
Mental Agility: cheaper
Smite,
Holy Fire and instant-cast spells.
Soul Warding (needs 3 points in
Improved Power Word: Shield): shorter shield cooldown, lower Mana cost.
Renewed Hope (needs
Soul Warding): more critical chance for several heals, including
Penance, on
Weakened Soul targets, and a shorter
Weakened Soul.
Divine Aegis: critical heals add a shield.
Penance (damages an enemy or heals an ally) →
Power Infusion (final row).
Holy: critical healing and a free Holy Nova path
Holy Specialization,
Improved Renew and
Divine Fury open the branch.
Searing Light (needs 5 points in
Divine Fury): more Holy damage;
Holy Fire’s periodic damage can make the next
Holy Nova free.
Litany of Light: Mana back when a heal differs from the previous one.
Inspiration: more Armor on the target after a non-periodic critical heal.
Spirit of Redemption: a brief, immobile form on death with free healing spells.
Prayer of Mending (final row, needs
Spirit of Redemption): a heal that jumps between nearby party or raid members after it triggers.
Shadow: party healing, spread and execute state
Spirit Tap,
Blackout and
Shadow Focus open the branch.
Mind Flay →
Improved Mind Flay: changes damage, range and slow.
Shadow Weaving: Shadow damage spells stack a Shadow damage increase.
Vampiric Embrace: heals the party for part of your Shadow damage;
Spirit Tap can trigger when afflicted enemies die.
Devouring Contagion: cheaper
Devouring Plague that spreads to a nearby enemy when the target dies.
Early Demise: more Shadow Word: Death critical chance at or below 20% target health.
Shadowform (final row, needs
Vampiric Embrace): disables healing spells while active.
Sources and limits
Blizzard’s Deep Dive recap confirms Gnome Priest but publishes no Priest talent tree or values. Tree names, descriptions and prerequisites come from the Priest calculator and its observed data response. Wowhead reconstructed the calculator from BlizzCon testing and streams before beta data was available and says damage values may vary, so these links still need beta confirmation.
