The level 60 dragon raid in Dustwallow Marsh, one of the first three raids of Forever. This page sets expectations from Blizzard's raid overview and the beta evidence; it is not a boss tactics or loot walkthrough.

Blizzard's raid overview of October 20 opens all three raids on December 9: Barrow Deeps (10 players), Hyjal Summit (20 players) and Onyxia's Lair (40 players, Dustwallow Marsh). Entering Onyxia's Lair requires the Drakefire Amulet from a faction-specific attunement questline. All raids are planned to reset each week.

Every raid member needs the Drakefire Amulet in their inventory. Blizzard lists a separate chain for each faction, and both finish in Upper Blackrock Spire with General Drakkisath.

Onyxia and her three phasesClassic reference
Blizzard calls the encounter a three-phase fight with strong fire attacks and tells raiders to build fire resistance first. The order and thresholds below are Classic reference, because no Forever source has described the fight yet. The spells are the ones Forever's spell database lists.
- Phase 1: on the ground (From the pull). Onyxia fights on her ledge with Flame Breath, Tail Sweep, Wing Buffet and Cleave. One tank holds her facing away from the raid, and everyone stays out of the cone in front of her.
- Phase 2: in the air (Around 65% health in Classic). She takes off and rains Fireballs on the room while whelps spawn in the side caves. Blizzard warns about strong fire attacks, and this is the phase where fire resistance pays off.
- Phase 3: back on the ground (Around 40% health in Classic). She lands again and adds Bellowing Roar, a raid-wide fear, to her ground attacks.

These are the items Wowhead Forever credits to Onyxia, with the drop chance its tooltip shows (read 2026-11-05). Classic's Onyxia dropped the tier 2 helms, Ancient Cornerstone Grimoire, Eskhandar's Collar, Deathbringer and more. Wowhead Forever's item database does not know those items yet, and Blizzard has said the new raids bring new tier sets, so this page lists none of them.

Where it is
Blizzard places Onyxia's Lair in Dustwallow Marsh. No source in the checked set publishes the portal's coordinates, so the map pin marks the zone, not the door. Wowhead's raid overview of September 13 listed the entrance as "TBD (It might have moved)".
What Forever changedagainst Classic
- Onyxia moves from a level 60 endgame raid to one of the first three raids of Forever, unlocking on December 9, 2026 together with Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit.
- She is gated by the Drakefire Amulet. Blizzard's overview gives both factions a full chain, with the Horde chain adding a trip through Dustwallow Marsh to the drake Emberstrife.
- Wowhead's raid overview of September 13 listed the entrance as "TBD (It might have moved)" and the attunement as undecided in Forever. Blizzard's October 20 overview settled the attunement and keeps her in Dustwallow Marsh.
- Forever's item records credit only six items to her, with no tier 2 helms or other Classic epics.
Not known yet
- Blizzard describes a three-phase fight with strong fire attacks but has not published boss mechanics, Forever loot tables or the new tier sets. The phase thresholds on this page are Classic reference, and Forever's item database does not yet list Classic's Onyxia gear.
- Quest levels, the full attunement reward list and any lockout rule beyond the planned weekly reset are not in Blizzard's overview.
- The new raid tier sets and the legendary reward are announced for the new raids overall; Blizzard names no boss that drops them.
