Choose a faction path

Published class options

Skyborne character creation offers one faction-specific option alongside four classes shared by both factions. The races page compares current racials across the playable races.

• Horde: Shaman

  Horde-aligned Skyborne embrace elemental traditions and can choose Shaman.

• Alliance: Mage

  Alliance-aligned Skyborne pursue an arcane legacy and can choose Mage.

Open the observed Shaman and Mage talent guides for the two faction-specific paths. Their preview trees do not establish a best faction or class.

Shared class options

Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Druid are listed for both factions.

Blizzard also confirms new Skyborne druid forms created specifically for the race.

Skyborne racial abilities

Blizzard's Deep Dive says each race has two active and two passive racial abilities. Wowhead's beta spell records, checked on 3 October 2026, and the WoW Forever Talents racial report for build 1.60.1.70124, a fansite report, list these for the Skyborne:

• Walk on Air (both factions, active): glide downward for 10 seconds while steering; 90-second cooldown since the October 15 beta build.
• Wind Blessed (both factions, passive): 3% more spellcasting, melee and ranged Haste (1% before the October 15 beta build).
• Elemental Insight (both factions, passive): 5% more damage against Elementals.
• Read Leyline (Alliance, active): doubles Health and Mana regeneration for 30 seconds, or 15 minutes next to a leyline; castable while moving; 2-minute cooldown.
• Skysight (Horde, active): 10% more movement and mounted speed for 30 seconds, or 15 minutes at an elemental convergence; castable while moving; 2-minute cooldown.

The faction split comes from the fansite report; Wowhead's spell records do not name a faction. Beta values can change before launch. Our tier list ranks the Skyborne racials against the other races for tanks, healers and damage.

How to unlock the Skyborne

Blizzard's official Forever page, checked on 3 October 2026, says access to the Skyborne race and the Zephras Isle starting questline requires the Skyborne Heroic Pack or a higher edition. The release and price guide compares the three packs.

Starting on Zephras Isle

Skyborne begin in the level 1–12 Zephras Isle experience. The Zephras Isle guide records its story, named groups, released screenshots, and the travel details that remain unpublished.
