How to install WoW Forever through Battle.net, and what Blizzard has not announced: a preload date, the download size and any login queue plan.
The quick answer
Blizzard's install steps are: open the Battle.net desktop app, pick World of Warcraft, choose WoW: Forever in the Game Version menu and select Install. In the four Blizzard pages read on November 2, 2026, Blizzard names no preload date, no download size and no login queue plan. Launch is November 4 at 3:00 p.m. PST (23:00 UTC).

To install WoW Forever, open the Battle.net desktop app, select World of Warcraft, choose WoW: Forever in the Game Version menu and select Install. Blizzard has published no preload date, no download size and no login queue plan in the four pages read on November 2, 2026. The game launches on November 4 at 3:00 p.m. PST (23:00 UTC).
How do you download WoW Forever?
Blizzard’s Return to Azeroth guide, posted October 29, gives these steps:
- Download the Battle.net desktop app for Windows or Mac and log in.
- Select WoW: Forever from the menu, then choose WoW: Forever under the Game Version menu.
- If you have more than one World of Warcraft account, a second dropdown for each account appears.
- Click Install. Blizzard says the progress bar shows when the game is available to play.
- When the installation is complete, click Play.
The same guide asks you to update your operating system and graphics drivers before installing. The Starter Guide, posted October 28, lists the same install step and adds that WoW: Forever is played with a keyboard and mouse on Windows or Mac, with controller support “in a beta state”. The reservation announcement, which has no date on the page, uses the same Game Version path for accounts that qualify for early name reservation.
These are Blizzard’s published instructions, not a Realm First install test. None of the pages says whether an account without an upgrade pack can start the install before launch, so check the Game Version menu on your own account. Access itself comes with an active WoW subscription or game time, according to the Starter Guide.

Can you preload WoW Forever?
Blizzard has not announced a preload. The Return to Azeroth guide, the Starter Guide, the launch announcement of October 29 and the reservation announcement do not contain the words preload or pre-install, and none gives a download size. That is the state on November 2. It does not rule out a preload that Blizzard announces later.
What the pages do tell you is that the install already has a documented path. If WoW: Forever shows up in your Game Version menu, starting the install now is the step Blizzard describes. If it does not, there is no published way around that.
For disk space, Blizzard’s Forever requirements live on a Battle.net shop page that Realm First could not read. The system requirements guide has the current World of Warcraft list, which asks for a 128 GB SSD, and says why it may differ for Forever.
When can you log in on launch day?
The launch announcement of October 29 says “See below for details on the exact time you can log in.” It lists 3:00 p.m. on November 4 for the Americas (PST), 8:00 p.m. in Brazil, 11:00 p.m. in the UK, and 12:00 a.m. on November 5 in Europe (CET). Taiwan is 7:00 a.m., Korea 8:00 a.m. and Australia and New Zealand 10:00 a.m., all on November 5. The launch time by time zone table converts the hour for more regions.
The pages do not say whether the client or any servers open before that hour.
Will there be a login queue?
Blizzard has not said. None of the four pages mentions a queue, a population cap or how launch capacity will be handled. Players choose a ruleset instead of a realm. Blizzard’s ruleset article, updated October 22, says this is meant to “reduce the pressure of choosing the right launch realm”, and it does not say whether rulesets queue separately or have a cap.
The only dated queue report so far comes from the name reservation start. Wowhead reported that on October 27 the reservation service came up in the EU at about 12:40 p.m. PDT and in North America at about 1:05 p.m. PDT, with queues and instant disconnects at first. That was a reservation tool, not the game, and it says nothing about November 4.

Where will Blizzard post launch-day problems?
Blizzard has named no status page for launch. During the beta its community manager posted each maintenance notice as a new thread in the WoW: Forever Beta Discussion forum, and the server status guide lists the five notices with dates and quotes.
What has Blizzard not announced?
| Question | Status on November 2, 2026 |
|---|---|
| Preload date | Not announced |
| Download size for Forever | Not announced in the pages read |
| Login queue or population cap | Not announced |
| Launch-day status page | Not announced |
| Install before launch without an upgrade pack | Not stated |
| Launch hour | Announced: November 4, 3:00 p.m. PST |
The launch checklist keeps the rest of the steps in order, and the start page has the first-hour plan. This page changes when Blizzard names a preload, a size or a queue, and the date at the top of the guide shows when it was last read.
