How the candidates are ranked

Each slot is ranked by an editorial score using the same class stat weights as the level-20 reference lists, applied to the Wowhead Forever item report. The weights model one leveling role per class; melee and ranged weapon damage, attributes, armour and listed effects count according to those weights. When the top item is faction-locked, the top listed item for the other faction is shown beside it. Up to two next-scoring alternatives are included. These are comparisons within the stated candidate pool, not a proven global optimum or Blizzard stat priority.

  • Class lens: Melee leveling. Other specializations and healer or tank roles are not represented.
  • Displayed stat priority: weapon DPS ×7, Agility 1, Strength 0.5, attack power 0.5, Stamina 0.25. These are editorial weights reused from the level-20 comparison, not Blizzard tuning.
  • Source labels: 13 of 15 ranked picks have an acquisition label in the checked Wowhead record; each row shows the label or its absence.
  • Listed records: 198 item records support these lists. Reported level requirements are at or below 30; absent requirements remain labelled as unknown.
