WoW Forever damage meter: enable it and choose what to track
Set up WoW Forever's built-in damage meter, switch between fights and overall data, and track healing, interrupts or avoidable damage.
The quick answer
In Options, open Advanced Options and check Enable Damage Meter. Move it in Edit Mode, then use its left-hand dropdown to choose damage, healing or actions. The O button switches between a combat segment and overall instance data.

Enable the built-in Damage Meter under Options → Advanced Options, then position it in Edit Mode. Its name undersells the settings: you can also display healing, successful interrupts, dispels and deaths.
These instructions follow Paryah’s Wowhead walkthrough, updated September 22 and read in full on October 20, 2026. This is a Wowhead report; Realm First has not tested these steps in the client. The page labels patch 1.60.1 without naming an exact build.
Enable and position the meter
- Press Esc, open Options and select Advanced Options.
- Scroll to Damage Meter and check Enable Damage Meter.
- If you want a fresh record on entering an instance, select Auto Reset Damage Meter. Leave it unchecked if you prefer manual resets.
- Return to the game menu and open Edit Mode.
- Select the meter to adjust its bar size, text size and spacing. Drag the window to place it.
The meter’s cogwheel also has shortcuts to its Options settings and Edit Mode.
Choose a metric that answers your question
Use the dropdown at the left of the meter header to select a category and metric. Click a player’s bar for more detail.
For damage, distinguish Damage Done, a total, from DPS, a rate. Wowhead reports that each view also shows the other value in parentheses. Healing Done and HPS work the same way.
For a group struggling to survive, Avoidable Damage Taken gives a different view from total Damage Taken. Enemy Damage Taken groups damage by enemy rather than by player. Neither the source nor this guide establishes the formulas or encounter classifications behind those numbers.
The Actions views count successful interrupts, successful dispels and deaths. The interrupt count covers hard interrupts: Wowhead explicitly excludes stuns, displacements and other effects that may stop a cast. A low count therefore does not prove a player never helped control enemies. HPS alone also does not establish healing effectiveness.

Compare a fight with the whole instance
Click the O button beside the cogwheel to choose Current Segment or Overall. Wowhead describes Overall as the instance total; segments cover periods in which a player enters and leaves combat. Check this selection before comparing two numbers that appear to disagree.
To keep more than one metric visible, use Create New Window in the cogwheel menu and give each window a different metric. For example, one can show Damage Done while another shows Interrupts. This is a setup choice, not a recommended performance target.
The same menu provides Reset Data for manually clearing recorded data and Delete Window for removing an additional window. It also offers a noninteractive toggle to prevent accidental changes during play. The source does not document recovery of cleared data or how records persist between sessions.
