Blizzard has made a final pass on World of Warcraft: Forever racial abilities, posted on October 26 in the beta development notes. The post says some new racials felt too generic and others looked “objectively stronger than others.” Blizzard now puts racial identity first, so “some races will naturally be slightly more effective than others at certain combat roles.” Where role- or class-focused racials had been replaced with generic ones, those changes are rolled back.

The weapon specialization racials are the exception. Blizzard says that for human Sword Specialization and orc Axe Specialization, “it is not healthy in the long run for future raid and dungeon loot tables to be evaluated through the lens of ‘required’ weapon types.”

Race Change in the October 26 post
Human Ruthless gives 1% critical chance (was 2%). Human Spirit gives 10% Spirit (was 5%).
Dwarf Earth Fury (2% critical strike damage and healing) removed. New Artisan’s Precision gives 1% hit chance with spells and attacks.
Orc Savage (1% critical strike chance) removed. Command is back and adds 5% Warlock and Hunter pet damage.
Tauren Plainsrunning gives 2% movement speed per stack (was 1%), up to 60% (was 30%), and no longer affects mounted speed. Endurance is only 5% more Health, with no hit chance or critical damage modifier.
Skyborne Wind-Blessed Haste is 2% (was 3%). Read Leyline raises Mana and Health regeneration by 50% (was 100%) for 15 seconds. Skysight gives 15% movement speed (was 10%) for 15 seconds. Used at a Ley Line, Read Leyline also grants Attuned for an hour, which lifts the regeneration bonus to 100%. Used at an elemental convergence, Skysight grants Charged, which lifts it to 30%. Both persist through death.

Our racial abilities guide records the October 15 build, and several of its values no longer hold. It lists Earth Fury for dwarves and Savage for orcs as the replacements for their weapon specializations, and it shows a 3% mounted speed bonus for Tauren Plainsrunning and a 2% critical damage bonus for Tauren Endurance. Anyone choosing a race from those values should use the table above. For the Skyborne race itself, see the Skyborne classes guide.
