Poisons are the Rogue’s weapon coatings in World of Warcraft: Forever. You learn
Poisons at level 20, brew every rank from a vial plus one or two other reagents, and each coating lasts 30 minutes. The rank levels below come from the Forever trainer list on this site, the numbers from Wowhead’s Forever spell records read on 5 Nov 2026.
Poisons and their ranks
| Poison | Effect | Learn levels |
|---|---|---|
| 20% chance per strike for instant Nature damage: 13 to 17 at rank 1, 76 to 100 at rank 6 | 20, 28, 36, 44, 52, 60 | |
| 30% chance to apply a Nature damage-over-time effect over 12 sec that stacks 5 times: 24 at rank 1, 92 at rank 5 | 30, 38, 46, 54, 60 | |
| 30% chance to slow movement by 50% for 12 sec; rank 2 slows by 70% | 20, 50 | |
| 20% chance to lengthen the enemy’s casting time by 40% for 10 sec at rank 1, up to 60% for 14 sec at rank 3 | 24, 38, 52 | |
| 30% chance to cut healing received by 67 at rank 1, stacking 5 times; 165 at rank 4 | 32, 40, 48, 56 |
Blinding Powder, the other trained Rogue consumable, comes at level 34.
Reagents by rank
Each row is one rank. Counts in brackets are quantities; no bracket means one.
The vial tier follows your level: Empty Vial up to the mid-20s, Leaded Vial from rank 2 of
Instant Poison, Crystal Vial from level 44. A level 60
Deadly Poison costs seven Deathweed per brew, so Deadly is the poison to stock herbs for.
Where to buy the ingredients
Wowhead’s item pages list these vendors. They are examples, not every seller.
| Reagent | Sold by |
|---|---|
| Empty Vial | Tharynn Bouden in |
| Leaded Vial | Amy Davenport in the |
| Crystal Vial | Antonio Perelli in |
| Dust of Decay | Amy Davenport in the |
| Essence of Agony | Jasper Fel and Sloan McCoy in |
| Dust of Deterioration, Deathweed, Essence of Pain | Listed as world drops only, so check the Auction House |
Dust of Decay, Dust of Deterioration, Deathweed and both essences carry a Rogue class restriction on their item pages, so other classes cannot use them.

The four new poisons
The Forever trainer list on this site records four poisons that are not in Classic: Occult, Atrophic, Numbing and Sebacious Poison. The client item list holds all four, and Wowhead’s item pages give their effects:
| Poison | Level | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Occult Poison | 54 (rank 1), 60 (rank 2) | Counts as |
| Atrophic Poison | 60 | 30% chance to lower the enemy’s melee attack power by 205 for 15 sec |
| Numbing Poison | 60 | 30% chance to slow the enemy’s melee attacks by 20% for 15 sec |
| Sebacious Poison | 60 | 30% chance to cut the enemy’s armor by 1,700 for 15 sec; benefits from |
Because Occult Poison counts as
Deadly Poison, talents that buff
Deadly Poison apply to it. The sources do not say where these four are learned or what they cost, so check your trainer before planning around them.
Thistle Tea and other rogue consumables
Thistle Tea restores 100 energy with a 5 minute cooldown and needs level 5. Wowhead’s Rogue quest list shows two ways to get it: Plundering the Plunderers (level 18) rewards ten, and the level 24 elite quests Klaven’s Tower and Mission: Possible But Not Probable reward the Thistle Tea recipe.
Evidence
Spell and item data come from Wowhead’s Forever database, read on 5 Nov 2026. The rank levels come from the Forever trainer list recorded in this site’s data, which still awaits review. Wowhead does not publish a quest that grants
Poisons, so none is listed here. For talent choices that affect poison damage, see the Rogue class guide and the PvP builds by class.
