Frost talent order 10–60

Talents start at level 10 and you get one point per level, 51 by level 60. The Talented Legacy perk can move each point up to five levels earlier; follow the order by points spent, not by level.

How to play while leveling

1. Levels 1–9
   • Open with Frostbolt, which you learn at 4. Frostbolt slows the target.
   • Learn Conjure Water at 4, Conjure Food at 6 and Polymorph at 8.
   • Use the wand to finish weak mobs without spending mana.

2. Levels 10–19
   • Frostbolt from max range, a second Frostbolt while the slowed mob walks in.
   • Cast Frost Nova when it arrives, step away, keep casting.
   • With two mobs, Polymorph one and kill the other.
   • Fire Blast or the wand finishes low-health mobs.

3. Levels 20–29
   • Frost Nova, then Ice Lance on the frozen target once you have the talent (level 31 in this order).
   • From 24, Frost Blast gives a 1.5 s cast with a 40% slow, so you no longer need down-ranked Frostbolt for one.
   • Cone of Cold arrives at 26 as the backup when a mob reaches you.
   • Blizzard (20) handles groups of three or more after Frost Nova.

4. Levels 30–39
   • Ice Armor replaces Frost Armor at 30. The Oct 15 notes let both armors trigger Frostbite and Fingers of Frost.
   • Same pull routine. Cold Snap is the emergency reset once Ice Block is used.

What Forever changes for Mages

• Frostfire Bolt is new at level 40. It counts as Fire and Frost, has a 3 s cast, and adds a damage over time and a movement slow. Blizzard
• Ice Lance is now an 11-point talent: instant, low damage, strong against Frozen targets. Fingers of Frost lets it treat a target as Frozen. Blizzard
• 10-15The Ice Lance bonus against Frozen targets dropped from 300% to 200%. Beta notes
• 10-15New spell Frost Blast, learned at 24: a 1.5 s cast with a 40% slow that benefits from all Frostbolt talents. Blizzard added it so you no longer need down-ranked Frostbolt rank 1 for a quick slow. Beta notes

Gear and weapons

• Method rates spell power as the best leveling stat. Method

Legacy perks for Mages

Level ranges from the dungeon guides. The Oct 1 notes cut the extra experience from dungeon quests by half, and the Oct 8 notes raised dungeon monster experience by about 20 percent.

Where the sources disagree

No source has measured leveling speed for any class. The beta stops at level 30, and Blizzard says abilities and talents can still change before launch.

• Ice Lance vs Frozen: the Blizzard deep dive says +300%, the Oct 15 beta notes say 200% (later change wins).
• Winter's Chill: the Oct 15 notes give two different formulas (40% more Cone of Cold damage per stack vs 5% per stack). WoW Forever Guides flags this too.
• Ice Lance availability: Method and the WoW Forever Builds 1–30 guide treat Ice Lance as a level 20 ability. The talent data lists it as a talent, and WoW Forever Guides takes it at level 31 to 34.
• First talent points: Improved Frostbolt (WoW Forever Guides, Method) vs Elemental Precision (WoW Forever Builds 1–30).
• Shatter has 3 ranks in the beta tree but the WoW Forever Builds 10–60 guide takes 5.
• Arcane Blast: the Blizzard deep dive gives a 2.5 s cast, the Oct 15 notes make it 1.5 s.
• No source read for this guide lists Mage class quests by level.
• No source says whether conjured food and water changed in Forever.
