Rogue leveling 1–60
Combat with any one-handed weapon is the common route:
Sinister Strike and
Eviscerate early,
Blade Flurry for two-mob pulls and poisons that now sit alongside sharpening stones. Forever also adds one-handed axes and keeps you in Stealth after Sap.
- Combat

Sources call Combat strong from the first point, usable with any weapon type, and
Blade Flurry covers two-mob pulls. Both full-length orders put Combat first. ConquestCappedWoW Forever GuidesWoW Forever Builds
- Assassination: Method calls it equally suitable and dagger based.
Mutilate and
Seal Fate arrive together late, so ConquestCapped saves it for level 60. MethodConquestCapped - Subtlety: A stealth-opener route with

Combat talent order 10–60
Talents start at level 10 and you get one point per level, 51 by level 60. The Talented Legacy perk can move each point up to five levels earlier; follow the order by points spent, not by level.

How to play while leveling
- Levels 1–17
- Open from Stealth when you can, build combo points with
Sinister Strike, then spend them with
Eviscerate. - At level 10 train Dual Wield and
Slice and Dice; at 14 train
Expose Armor.
- Open from Stealth when you can, build combo points with
- Levels 18–25
- Ambush from Stealth with a main-hand dagger; Method rates it the best opener from level 18.
- Use 1 or 2 combo points on
Slice and Dice, then
Sinister Strike, then
Eviscerate when the mob is nearly dead. - At level 20 apply Instant Poison.
- Levels 26–30
- Open with
Cheap Shot once you have it at 26, or just attack with
Sinister Strike. - Keep
Slice and Dice up. - Gouge a hurt mob to bandage; use Evasion or Sprint if a pull goes bad.
- Open with
- Levels 30–60
- With two mobs, use
Blade Flurry (level 36 in this order) and Evasion together;
Endurance lines up their cooldowns. - Save
Adrenaline Rush for a third add or an elite. - Use
Riposte after a parry once you take it (level 48 in this order). - On an Assassination dagger order instead of this one:
Mutilate,
Backstab,
Slice and Dice,
Expose Armor only on long fights, then
Eviscerate.
- With two mobs, use
What Forever changes for Rogues

- Talents start at level 10, with milestone talents at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points. Dual Specialization unlocks at level 40. Blizzard
- Poisons have more charges and work together with temporary weapon enchants such as Weightstones and Sharpening Stones. Blizzard
- Sap no longer ends Stealth. Beta fixes: Sap on a PvP-flagged target flags you, and Sap cannot trigger weapon procs. BlizzardBeta notes
- Rogues can learn one-handed axes.
Hack and Slash merges the Dagger, Mace, Sword and Fist Weapon specializations and adds Axes. Blizzard
Expose Armor now equals five stacks of Sunder Armor at a similar level. Blizzard
Mutilate is a new 21-point talent: 60 Energy, hits with both daggers, extra damage on poisoned targets, and gives 2 combo points. Blizzard- A missed
Expose Armor no longer wipes your combo points. Beta notes - Poisons no longer proc against targets that are attacking the Rogue, and
Cold Blood is consumed when
Mutilate crits. Beta notes - Spells and abilities cast far below your level get less power and a lower chance to trigger class effects. Beta notes
Precision hit chance now applies to all spells and attacks, poisons included. Flawless Execution is a new 16-point talent that cuts
Eviscerate cost by 10 Energy. Blizzard

Gear, weapons and professions
Gear and weapons
- Put your highest-damage weapon in the main hand and a faster one off-hand. WoW Forever Builds prefers the slower sword in the main hand. ConquestCappedWoW Forever BuildsMethod
- Stat priority is Agility, then Strength or Attack Power, then Stamina. Intellect does nothing for a Rogue; a little Spirit helps. ConquestCapped
- Cruel Barb drops from Edwin VanCleef in the
Deadmines, and Method suggests rolling on it. Method also rates high-Agility crafted leather such as Skulker's Leather Belt. MethodConquestCapped
Professions
- Method starts with
Skinning, then
Leatherworking in a major city for cheap gear, with
First Aid,
Cooking and
Fishing as secondary skills. Method - WoW Forever Guides suggests these pairs:
Skinning and
Mining to sell,
Skinning and
Leatherworking for gear,
Mining and
Blacksmithing for weapons,
Mining and

First Aid fits any pair. WoW Forever Guides - Method says the
Leatherworking camp tent adds 5% rested experience. Method

Legacy perks for Rogues
- Each character can spend 16 Legacy points at launch. The WoW Forever Talents Legacy record lists Talented, which starts talent points up to five levels early, behind Well Rested 5/5, so the pair costs 10 of the 16. BlizzardWoW Forever Talents
- Legacy gives 16 spendable points per character at launch. Well Rested raises rested XP gains and its cap. Blizzard
- WoW Forever Builds suggests Well Rested 1, Talented 5, Thrill of Adventure 5, Field Guide, Frequent Flier and Gourmand, and marks the order unconfirmed. WoW Forever BuildsWoW Forever Builds
- ConquestCapped takes Thrill of Adventure first. It does nothing inside dungeons, raids and battlegrounds. ConquestCappedWoW Forever Builds

Where the sources disagree
No source has measured leveling speed for any class. The beta stops at level 30, and Blizzard says abilities and talents can still change before launch.
- Method (Reholy) puts the first two points into
Remorseless Attacks until 30; WoW Forever Guides and WoW Forever Builds Combat 10–30 start with
Improved Sinister Strike and
Improved Eviscerate. - Method calls Combat and Assassination both suitable; WoW Forever Guides and ConquestCapped pick Combat and save Assassination for the tail.
- Poisons: Method says Instant only; WoW Forever Guides lists Instant on both, Deadly on main hand and Crippling on off hand; ConquestCapped says Instant on both.
Puncturing Wounds without daggers: Method moves the points to
Endurance and
Lightning Reflexes; WoW Forever Builds moves them to
Deflection; WoW Forever Guides keeps them and calls daggers optional.- Main-hand weapon: ConquestCapped says highest damage; WoW Forever Builds swords guide says slower sword in the main hand.
- WoW Forever Builds swords guide uses Restless Blades, which the current tree does not have (its own Combat 10–30 page says it is absent).
- No source read for this guide gives the new poison charge counts.
- WoW Forever Builds puts one point in Well Rested before Talented; the WoW Forever Talents Legacy record (build 70124) lists Talented behind Well Rested 5/5.
