How to install addons in WoW Forever
An addon for World of Warcraft: Forever goes into the Forever client's own AddOns folder, either by hand or through an addon manager, and is switched on in the AddOns list at character select. Folder, managers, fixes and the install steps of RestedXP, Zygor and Journey, from their own pages read on October 23, 2026.

Short answer
By hand: close the game, download the file marked Forever, extract it so the addon's own folder sits directly in the client's Interface/AddOns folder, start the game and enable the addon at character select. With a manager: WowUp lists Forever support in its releases; for the CurseForge app we found no statement.
We found no Blizzard page, and no addon manager page, that names the Forever client folder. Open it from the Battle.net app rather than typing a path.
Which addons have a Forever build, from Questie to boss timers, is in WoW Forever addons: what you need.
Find the Forever AddOns folder
- Open the Battle.net app, select WoW Forever and open the game's Options menu. Choose Show in Explorer on Windows. A player's post on the Blizzard forums describes that entry; we found no Blizzard page for the Mac equivalent, so look for the matching entry in the same menu.
- The post says that opens the base folder WoW is installed in and highlights the WoW folder. The AddOns folder is
Interface/AddOnsinside the subfolder of the client you play.
The subfolder name is a gap. Addon pages for other versions show that every client has its own: Zygor's manual lists _retail_, _classic_era_, _classic_ and _anniversary_. ForeverUI's CurseForge listing names _classic_beta_ for the Forever beta, which makes it an addon author's statement rather than Blizzard's. Whether the live client from November 4 keeps that name is not stated anywhere we read.
Install an addon by hand
- Close the game. Zygor's manual asks players to close their games before installing.
- Download the file for Forever. CurseForge lists a Forever file type per addon, such as RestedXP Guide v4.11.27 (October 21, 2026). Get the release for your game client, as Azeroth Pilot Reloaded's page puts it.
- Extract the zip. Joana's World tells players: "Extract the files directly into your Interface/AddOns folder". Azeroth Pilot Reloaded's page says the result is
Interface/AddOns/APR. The folder that carries the addon's name goes straight into AddOns, with no outer folder around it. - Add companions. Azeroth Pilot Reloaded needs LibTaxiData. Guidelime needs Questie on Forever.
- Start the game and enable the addon, as the next section shows.
Enable it at character select
Zygor's manual describes the screen for its own addon: a button labelled AddOns at the bottom left of the login screen opens the list of installed addons, and the addon's box must be ticked. Journey says the same from the game menu: "click AddOns and make sure Journey is enabled". Zygor also points to a Load out of date AddOns setting in the top right corner of that list, which lets an addon run after a patch flags it as outdated, and recommends always having it checked. Zygor's page was written for its Retail and Classic addons; Journey's page is about its Forever addon.
Addon managers and WoW Forever
| Manager | What its pages state | Gap |
|---|---|---|
| CurseForge | Addon pages carry a Forever file type: RestedXP Guide v4.11.27 (October 21), Azeroth Pilot Reloaded v7.2.1 (October 20), ForeverUI with game version 1.60.1. | No page we read says whether the desktop app finds the Forever client. |
| WowUp | GitHub release notes: v2.24.0 (October 10) "WoW Forever support", v2.24.1 (October 21) "Add support for WoW Forever". wowup.io says: "Easily switch between all of your World of Warcraft installations". | wowup.io does not mention Forever and does not say how it locates the client. |
| Wago | Journey's page offers a Wago download next to CurseForge. | We did not find a statement about the Wago app and Forever. |
Journey says an addon manager keeps its addon up to date and recommends turning on automatic updates there. A manual install has no updater: Zygor's manual says its zip route "has to be repeated every time guides are updated".

RestedXP
- Get the Forever file of the free addon from CurseForge or GitHub. RestedXP's download page at download.restedxp.com offers it too. The current release is v4.11.27, October 21, 2026 (CurseForge Forever file and GitHub).
- Install it by hand or with a manager and enable it in the AddOns list.
- Type
/RXPor/RXPGin game to open the addon.
RestedXP's guides are bought in its shop; the addon itself is free. We could not re-read RestedXP's own install and download pages for this guide: automated requests got an access error (HTTP 403) on October 23, 2026. How a paid guide unlocks in the game is not documented on any page we read.
Zygor Guides
- Download the Zygor Client from the Members Area of zygorguides.com; a Zygor Basic or Elite account is needed.
- Log in to the client. It detects the AddOn directories of the compatible games you have installed.
- With the game closed, click Install for each guide component you need, then Play.
- Fallback: a manual zip, extracted into the AddOns directory of the matching client folder. It has to be repeated at every update.
Zygor's page says Forever guides "will be released through the Zygor Client well in advance of the game's official release". On October 23, 2026 the manual listed Forever Guides under "Coming soon", and its install pages name no Forever folder.
Journey
- Install Journey from CurseForge or Wago with an addon manager, such as the CurseForge app or WowUp.
- From the game menu, click AddOns and make sure Journey is enabled.
- Log in and type
/journeyin chat.
Levels 1 to 30 come with the addon. After a purchase, Journey says its installer adds the rest and that it emails players when the full guide is ready to install. Journey notes that WoW addons work the same on Mac and Windows, that there is no Linux installer at launch, and that the beta uses its own folder, so the addon has to be added again to the live Forever install.
When the addon does not load
| Problem | Check | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Not in the AddOns list | The addon's own folder must sit directly in Interface/AddOns, not inside an outer folder from the zip. | Azeroth Pilot Reloaded: Interface/AddOns/APR; Joana's World: extract directly into AddOns |
| Installed for the wrong client | Each client has its own folder, and the beta had its own. Open the folder from the Battle.net app, not from memory. | Zygor manual, Journey support |
| Listed as out of date | Tick Load out of date AddOns in the list. | Zygor manual, for its own addon |
| Window empty or nothing happens | Check that the addon is installed and enabled in the AddOns list, then use its slash command. | Journey support |
| Missing companion | Azeroth Pilot Reloaded needs LibTaxiData; Guidelime needs Questie on Forever. | Azeroth Pilot Reloaded and Guidelime on CurseForge |
| Beta addon gone at launch | Install it again for the live client. | Journey support |
This guide reports what the pages above say. Realm First has not installed these addons on a Forever client.

How do I install addons in WoW Forever?
Close the game, open the Forever client's AddOns folder from the Battle.net app, put each addon's own folder directly inside it, start the game and tick the addon in the AddOns list at character select. An addon manager that supports Forever does the first two steps for you.
Where is the WoW Forever AddOns folder?
Inside the Forever client's Interface folder. Open the client folder from the Battle.net app instead of typing a path: we found no Blizzard page that names the Forever folder. An addon author's CurseForge listing gives the name _classic_beta_ for the Forever beta; Blizzard has not said whether the live client keeps it.

Does the CurseForge app work with WoW Forever?
CurseForge addon pages list Forever as a file type, for example RestedXP Guide v4.11.27 of October 21, 2026. No CurseForge page we read says whether its desktop app finds the Forever client. Journey's own install steps name the CurseForge app and WowUp as managers to use.

Why does my addon not show up at character select?
Three causes follow from the vendors' instructions. The addon folder sits one level too deep because the zip had an outer folder. The addon went into another client's folder. Or the addon needs a companion addon, such as LibTaxiData for Azeroth Pilot Reloaded or Questie for Guidelime on Forever.
Do my beta addons carry over to the live WoW Forever client?
Journey says no: "The beta uses its own folder and Blizzard doesn't copy beta addons over", so you add the addon to the live Forever install again.

How do I install RestedXP, Zygor and Journey for WoW Forever?
